Oh how does my garden grow?

Ah Ha I caught you. I was cooking dinner and Leia had wanted to play in the sprinkler. When I came to get her because dinner was almost done this is where I found her. Playing in the mud. She told me she was baking me a chocolate pie.I swear I will never have grass grow here. Between all the kids and dogs digging in this area it's a good place to break a leg. I keep raking it back in and then the dogs normally dig it all back out.Plus the kids love digging and playing in my dirt.

What a muddy mess

Priceless.

Leia found this caterpillar. It is very strange looking.Mainly white with little red dots and funny long hairy antennas and a tail with a red head.I told her It might be poisonous I don't know. I put him out front away from the garden just in case he was hungry.

Another view of my raspberry bushes that I bought.

This is from my blackberry bush.
This is my Lavender. It is starting to get the little purple flowers.

Wow look at my Calla Lilly.

This is my zucchini plant. Man is it taking over.I'm worried I didn't plant it in a big enough area. It dwarfs my pepper plant which is next to it.

My blueberry bush is just loaded with them. I put netting up on them last week. I figure the birds will still figure out a way to eat them before I even know what happened.I know this sounds strange. I want a guard cat. Yes one that will chase off all the critters that will eat my berries and dig up my garden. like I need another pet. A BB gun might be fun too, HA!!!

I had noticed some squirrels in my garden near my strawberry plants so I went to shew them away. I knew I had 2 green tiny buds of strawberries, but when I checked on them yesterday I discovered that I had about 10 of them slightly turning pink.

Check out how big my cherry tomato's are getting.
These beans I don't understand. They've been in the ground for over a month and have stayed the same height. They are pole beans I went and looked at the package. I have one volunteer pole bean, the same one as these, that I have in with my blackberry's by accident and it is shooting up like wildfire. It's the one that I have trellising on the white fence in a different post

This is a close up of the beans that I planted last week. I can't believe that they are this big already.

This is my bean umbrella pole. I just planted those beans not even a week ago and they are sprouting up.I can't wait to see what it will look like covered in a canape of beans and leaves.

My corn is shooting up pretty tall I have about 20 of them popping up so I hope that's enough to pollinate.

I know I know I couldn't resist. I bought 2 raspberry bushes the other day. I just have to figure out where to plant them because they are full of briers.

I bought a few cucumber plants. For the first time I bargained the sales lady to give me a discount. They were the last pack of cucumbers at the BX and they were pathetic looking. It was a pack of 6 and in each section there were 2 plants growing in almost all of them. Most of them were dying or not even there. I technically only wanted 2 anyway so I didn't mind that most of them were dead. They were normally 2 bucks and I got them for .75 cents. I know it's not that huge of a thing, but I was proud of myself. Plus I brought 2 of the wilted ones back from the dead so now I have 4 plants.

I have a tomato growing on another plant.

This is the second day that I've noticed D standing in the same spot intent on watching the ground. He tilts his head like he's listening to something and sometimes his head jerks real fast to one side and then the other. I cautiously walked over there yesterday thinking a snake was on the ground. I didn't see anything.I have noticed in my front yard I have mole tunnels so maybe that's what it is.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day This is how peaceful I feel. I always felt like this picture of Leia on the Beach when she was a baby is like looking at those rare glimpses of Heaven here on Earth.
I went to Church today here on base.It was very nice.I went to the contemporary Service and it reminds me of the church that Chris and I went to out in Arizona. They played newer age hymns with a guitar and the preacher was wearing his military uniform. The service was wonderful with great messages of motherhood and Christ. It was very touching and made me feel whole. At one point the minister asked the men to raise their hands if they believed that their wife was the beacon of light to help show the guiding way .I raised my hand a little bit and told Jen that I had Power of Attorney of Chris and therefor he would answer the same way if he were here.I wish he was there. He would have enjoyed it just as much as I did. Leia went to Sunday School. She had a good time too. She was all dressed up ,but sad to see that she was the ONLY girl and she said that 2 boys were just wrestling like crazy not watching the video. All of the moms got a coffee mug with some Hershey kisses in them with a card attached. It is so sweet and heart touching I want to share it with you.

Mother's Day Kisses

Today is Mother's Day

And I thought that I would show

That you are loved more than

You'll ever know

So I gather you some kisses

And you can plainly see

They are sweet and special

Given to you from me

So when you are down

Or feeling blue

Grab a little kiss

And know that I think of you

And with each little kiss

That you take away

Remember that I love you Mom

Each and everyday!

I Hope that everyone has a wonderful Day. Love you Always.

Well I applied for a part time MRI job and within 25 minutes I got a call on it. They asked me a few questions about how much experience I had and If I was Registered which I'm not but Eligible since I went to college for it.They want someone with 2 years experience and I'm close if you count the schooling. They asked me to send my resume to a different address so I hope it's not a scam. It probably isn't. The job is up in Columbia and only part time. If the pay is right that's fine with me. I could still be with Leia most of the time and still have my foot in the door in my Career field. keep your fingers crossed.

Other then that not much else is going on. I'm going to babysit tonight and tomorrow have a birthday party for Ethan and his family here at my house. Then Sunday Leia and I are going to go to the Air Show. I was going to go today when it is military and their family's because it would be less crowed, but the temp is supposed to be 94 today ,but a storm rolls in Saturday and by Sunday the high will only be in the mid 70's. I know which day I want to be out in the sun is a no brainer.

I got my test results back from my bloodwork. They say I'm healthy as a horse not much else to report back. love you all

Happy Mother's Day to all.

garden and Trip to Chris and Jeans

I'm finally posting pictures of this weekend. I don't know where all the time has gone. I've been planting and doing yard work the last 3 days so my time is flying by. We went to Chris and Jeans over the weekend and had a really good time. I didn't take many pictures so sorry about that. We were too busy having fun. We hit a lot of yard sales and I hit pay dirt on things I didn't even know I needed. HA!!! We went swimming and lots of gabbing and checking out the garden and I'm learning about different flowers. Jean gave me a bunch of flowers and lots of great ideas on how to plant seeds. My neighbors comment was when Chris gets home he's going to think I opened up a nursery. I have pots and make shift can pots all over the place. I am starting many things out from seed. It keeps me going and it teaches Leia to like the outdoors instead of the T.V. She enjoys helping me water and plant the seeds. She also loves to dig in the dirt just for the fun of it. So my garden and plants give me some good mommy and Leia time too.
If I bore you with all my pictures of my garden I'm Sorry. BUT here they are anyway. HA!!!
Here are some more pictures of my garden. Look how much things have grown in such a short time. Yes I know I need to weed. But some of them are seeds and I'm not sure which is which My mothers day gift to myself . I've never seen a Geranium like this before.
This is my Morning Glories. They've gotten so big. Leia started these out from seed, I've transplanted a few of them so the smaller ones can grow.

I planted herbs the tall ones are Cilantro. These seeds are only 1 week old.

My garden growing a little bit
I got an umbrella clothesline so the pole beans can grow up it and make a canopy.I got this great idea from Jean and a few days later I found one cheap at a consignment store. My blackberries in bloom and up front you can see a bean that I threw in there thinking it was dead has started to grow so I am wrapping it around the white fence.

My Calla Lilly is growing like wildfire

The white fencing that I got for free at the Airman's Attic. I love it. Makes the garden look nicer.

Plants that Jean gave me from her garden . I spent all day Monday and a good part of Tuesday planting them.

Chris and Leia swimming. They had such a great time.

We tried to get the sailboat out but it was too windy.

being brave in the kitchen

Today I got a kids recipe book at the Airman's Attic. So I thought that maybe Leia and I could make something fun tonight. The only thing in it that I had ALL of the ingredients was an pineapple upsidedown cake. I assembled all of the things that we needed and let her do it pretty much all by herself. Including the mixer.Luckily most of it did stay in the mixing bowl. She even opened the cans. Yes I know I have a stone age one. The movers lost my electric one.But this works pretty good and doesn't take up counter space. It made my young friends look at me weird though. They didn't know how to work it. I had to laugh.
Leia scooping out the sugar

Leia sampling the sugar. I guess she had to make sure it was sweet enough

YUP sweet enough and so is the sugar.

She did pretty good at the blinder.See the roses behind her. I had to cut down most of them due to a bad storm with heavy winds. Most of the long stems buckled and the roses were handing on the ground. So I had enough to make 3 vases. One of them with about 15 roses. They smell so so so good.

I forgot to take a picture of it before we dug in. It was pretty good.

Leia enjoying her fruits of hard work.

garden

Just sitting back and watching the garden grow. There's nothing really exciting going on around here unless you count the dogs digging up the garden , yard, and house work.I thought I'd share a few more pictures of the garden. Things are starting to bloom and grow. I am excited about that. So enjoy the pictures. These are some Morning Glories that I got from a seed packet for like 20 cents at Wal-mart. I planted 2 containers of them and these are the only ones that have taken off.Leia planted these about 3 weeks ago.
This is some Lavender that I couldn't pass up on. I am growing some by seed but it's taking forever and the dogs have dug up one of those pots so I'm not sure if any seeds will make it.So I couldn't wait to find out so I bought a plant. I can't stop smelling it. It is heavenly.

This is how big my blueberry plants are growing. I am so so so excited to say that they are getting berries on them. I can't wait to eat them.

My strawberry plants are blooming as well.

These are the blueberries on my tree

These are Dahlia's that we planted 3 weeks ago.

This is my Calla Lilly taking off.I planted this about a month ago.

Even my blackberry bushes are getting bigger and started to bloom.

garden

I so want to send 2 dogs to the pound. Just joking but I am so so so mad at Sharkbait and the neighbors dog. I just caught Sharkbait in the garden .This morning I went out to look at the garden and noticed that all of the corn was dug up, the tomato's and strawberries had been slightly dug up. Those I could save, the corn is in cornmeal heaven. Just a few minutes ago I discovered that a dog had chewed up a flat of flowers that I just got the day before. Destroyed it totally. There were a few stragglers with a little bit of root on them so I planted the chewed up ones just in case. I suspect Rocko did this one, but now that I just caught Sharkbait in the garden I'm not so sure. I seriously want to cry.I have put so much time, effort and money into it. It's suppose to save me money though the summer and fall. I know I have high executions for my garden, but dang dogs. I have a fence around it but they're still getting into it. Any suggestions???
