my garden

I hope this year to bring out my desire to have a garden. I'm starting off small. As you can see it's not very big, but I have it packed with a nice variety of things. I have tomato's,cherry tomato's,green peppers, onions, corn, green beans, cantaloupe, and yellow squash. Jean brought me some plants as well. So I've added mint and catnip as herbs. I just bought some Lavender seeds and can't wait to smell them. Jean also brought me a few more plants to make our house more homey. She gave me a Spider plant, some Canna's and Elephant ears. I can't wait for them to get big and give me some coverage on the back fence.
My blueberry trees are thriving and are starting to produce the beginnings of blueberry's.It's so cool to see how they are forming. The white flowers are starting to turn blue. Hopefully in a month or so we'll be eating them.

My big cherry tomato plant.

I know it's small but I am so excited to finally have a garden.
The moving totes are around it to give the dogs a visual add to not go in it. So far it only keeps Ruger out. He's the smart one of the bunch. I will have to go to Lowe's to get chicken wire and some posts to put around it.

crazy weather

I just got done looking at the weather for this week and it's crazy. Today it's only going to be high of 77. Tomorrow it's going to be 86 and Friday 87. Then it falls back down to the high 70's over the weekend. I can't believe 2 days of almost 90 degrees. The lows are in the 50's. I'm not ready yet for hot and muggy. I want to enjoy the spring.

After my weather pity party for myself everything is fine here. I'm not up to much.My neighbor keeps me busy and we're constantly doing things. I have to get her in a few minutes to go to the gym. I keep going but I'm not really loosing like I want to. I am bummed about that.I have to kick it up a few notches.

I love you all.

Take care.

Yesterday was a busy day. First we had an Easter Egg Hunt here on base. It was crazy more then anything. Tyndall threw a lot better one.But she did get to look for scattered eggs for like 30 seconds. Vrrrooooom she's taking off.

The Easter Bunny was there
Leia upset that some of her eggs were missing. I watched her while she was picking some up about 5 had fallen out. Other kids quickly grabbed them. I thought she did good considering other kids only got like 4-5 eggs. And for once they had some real chocolate in them instead of All being tootsierolls.

The eggs where just tossed on the ground. On Easter I'm going to take her to a park and really hide them good .I think she likes finding them more then the candy. I went back to Wal-mart to pick up an extra bag of eggs to hide.

They had a Bouncy Slide.

We later went to the Swan Lake Park. This was Leia's first time there. She had a really good time. They have this wonderful tree that has a rose like bloom on it. I had asked the Nursery about them and it's definitely a southern tree. It needs a zone 8-9 to be planted. Bummer. They are so beautiful

A swamp picture.

Here is a picture of the blossom on the trees.
Leia in her Easter dress hanging out with the swans.
All of the beautiful blooms and wonderful spring smells are in the air here.I hope signs of spring start popping up at home.Take time to smell the flowers.
Behind Leia is the tree I mentioned earlier.
It's early morning so apparently I can't put the pictures in the correct order again. Leia and Ethan getting a little close to a swan.He only puffed his feathers out at them and waddled back into to the water.
This white one was really nice and followed us around like a puppy. Leia had found some bread on the ground and started feeding it.
I waited so long to get them to form a heart and they did for a brief second. But the digital camera has a delay dang it. Maybe next time.
She is the prettiest thing in the whole wide world.

The kids played in this for a very long time. They followed the lines and just goofed off.

Checking out a swan and some turtles.

I took everyone to the treehouse farm . They had a great time there too. The chicken love their weed salad.

Mom's first time to pet a deer.

The Swan lake and Iris Gardens. I was trying to copy past the history of this place and can't seem to do it. The story is back in the early 1900's a rich man had tried to grow Japanese Iris's and they failed miserably. He had his help dig them up and throw them in a nearby swamp where they flourished. 8 different species of swans now inhibit the lake some as far away as Australia.

These are the tree roots. I think it's a Cyprus tree. They were cool.

They even had an old cranky goose there. I guess the old saying if you have a swan in your pond they will scare away the geese is wrong.

Man I need a Tan.

The park is so peaceful and proves that spring is in the air.

This is a picture of some of the swamp

They had a walkway over the busy road to get to the other side of the park. It was really cool.

I can see us coming to this park alot. This weekend if it doesn't rain I want to take Leia here for some Easter Pictures.

Mom and Dave had a good time here.

See the swan and goose tolerate each other.

You're a Pansy and I mean it.

The biggest magnolia tree grove's I've ever seen.

We found a Ward's BBQ restaurant. It was OK. It would have been much better if they had a sweet BBQ sauce.

The good thing about someone staying in a hotel is that we can borrow the swimming pool when it's cold outside.

Leia enjoying splashing and swimming.
